Progressive metal band Rectified Spirit have just released their first music video for the song ‘Paradigm Shift’ from their self titled debut album. The song is dedicated to Irom Chanu Sharmila, a civil rights and political activist who has been on a hunger strike since 2000.“For a long time we have wanted to vocalize the silent anguish of IROM CHANU SHARMILA, the “Iron Lady of Manipur” who has been on a fast unto death for the last 12 years, crusading against the authorities for repealing the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, which gives the men of the armed forces absolute draconian powers, an actual license to kill any person, having the authority of law, based on mere suspicion.What is apparently not visible and has been lost sight of by many, in this long passage of 12 years, is her steadfast determination which we wanted to bring out through this song.” Commented guitarist and founding member Samudragupta Dutta.
