Metal is among the fastest growing genres of rock music in the country, and metal heads across the country have a great friend in the form of Rolling Stone. Not only has the magazine provided a platform for Indian metal bands with its extensive editorial coverage, but also through the widely popular Rolling Stone Metal Awards which recognizes the best talent in the country annually. Past winners in the various categories include Demonic Resurrection, Bhayanak Maut, Goddess Gagged, Noiseware, Undying Inc and Eccentric Pendulum, a virtual who’s who of heavy metal scene.

Keeping its promise of hosting the loudest gig of the year, Rolling Stone Metal Awards 2013 will be headlined by the Mumbai hardcore band Scribe, who also grace the cover of Rolling Stone June issue. The band is performing in the city for the first time in two years and will feature their new second vocalist Gagan Gill. The 1,000 or so headbangers who are expected to be present will also be subject to some high decibel performances by three of the nominees — Guwahati’s Rectified Spirit (who play their debut gig in Mumbai), 1833 AD and Devoid.
Public voting in the popular choice categories for Best Band, Best Album and Best Song is open till June 20th on the Rolling Stone India Facebook page.
