Interview by Ajoy M Lanong

Rocking since 1993 and after several line up changes, hUndRed oCtaNe’s musicians have never surrendered to the hardest times and the saddest moments. The final result is a revelation of sorts, an entity that is indestructible, invincible, irreversible , insatiable, inimitable, and having the sound of thunder and the daze of metal. –hUndRed oCtaNe– is a band that draws on Purple, Floyd, Cornell, Maiden, Pearl Jam, Manowar, Hetfield…and yet remains uniquely spectacular. The rare quality of superb music writing stacked with matchin’ lyrics & above all, fashioned with that deep thought provoking voice is what we are all about. MUSIC in MADNESS and MELODY in MAYHEM is what the band believes in.Check out this Hard/ Aliternative Rock Band from Delhi, India.

Puneet Vohra – Vox and Guitars

IMM: 18 years in the music scene and being one of India’s Hard/alternative Rock band from India ,how has these 18 years been for you guys?

Ans: Rock n roll has been the way of life for us. In life we go through many different phase..like from an infant to teenager and the maturity comes on….similarly 18 years have been the teen and the reckless phase for us and we have chosen to continue with the same attitude through out the others phases of life and it will go on and on.

IMM: Bands go through quite a lot during the formative years. What has been the most saddest/hardest time for the band?

Ans: Sad and hard times are a process which a band has to go through initially. Like playing for free, place to jam, inhumane rooms for a stay and a frequent change in line ups. Well this is just a phase and every musician has to go through it.

IMM: Hundred Octane is heavily influenced by Deep Purple,Pink Floyd,Iron Maiden etc. And yet you guys remain unique. How do you do it?

Ans: Being influenced by some band does not mean that one has to be a clone of these bands. Just trust your music and your feel and let it out..That is what we do…

IMM: Lets talk about your album Delusion is No Illusion. When was it conceptualised?

Ans: We started working on the album a year back and after playing the tracks multiple times in our gigs…we finally thought to record the songs and launch it..it has been released worldwide now.

IMM: What was the inspiration behind the album?

Ans : The songs in this album are a blend of us four different human beings deeply in love with music. This is the outcome of countless, sleepless nights of creativity thus successfully creating new sound in the world of “Rock n Roll”. Our wine has matured.

IMM: Heard you guys are working on a music video too. So how’s that going?
Ans : Yes. Its been a great time working on our video. We actually enjoyed it a lot. The basic footage part is over now and it is in the editing phase. The video is on our song Mr. Masquerade. The song “MR. MASQUERADE” is a very powerful song with outrageous lyrics. A “Satire” on the people who come in the rock n roll scenario and are eventually short lived.

IMM: Any plans of playing in Shillong and all over the North East?
Ans : No, not as of now, but we would to play in that part of the country.

IMM: What do you want your fans to know about the band’s future plans…
Ans : Next album is in the pipeline. Looking forward to spread love, peace and music in each and every part of the world. Long live Rock N’ Roll.
